What’s Your Excuse?
Here are just a few of the excuses I have heard why people don’t market:
“I don’t have time to market!”
“I hate marketing, cold calls make me break out into a sweat.”
“Marketing is too complicated, and costs too much money.”
I honestly did not understand the aversion to marketing because I enjoyed it so much. Then I really started to listen and understand. What I found out was surprising – to me. People did not understand that marketing did not have to be something they dreaded. It could be simple and fun. I like to look at it as a game.

I personally found a simple system that works. CJ Hayden has perfected marketing for the service industry in her Get Client’s Now! Book. It takes marketing to a grassroots level, makes it user friendly and it works. Then I thought, how can I get more people to implement this in their businesses, and that is how the Business Marketing Gym was born. It is a simple step by step program that can be used when you want.
Announcing York’s Business Marketing Gym
for Entrepreneurs and Service Businesses!
· Have you ever felt like there is so much to get done, you don’t know where to start?
· Are you so busy taking care of your clients, you cannot seem to fit in any marketing activities?
· And then when you have time to fit in marketing activities, you are not sure what activities to do next?
Well if you answered yes to any of these questions, don’t worry, you are not alone. Based on conversations I have had with my clients and an informal marketing survey I recently did, I find that is the consensus of business owners and entrepreneurs. So what is the answer? I think it’s the Business Marketing Gym!
What is the Business Marketing Gym?
Business Marketing Gym – Just like a real Gym, do as little as you want or as much as your wish. Your marketing workouts can be any time of the day or night. It’s your marketing workout, go at your pace when you have time.
The Business Marketing Gym is a Mastermind group I created of business owners, entrepreneurs and service professionals to meet on a monthly basis to learn marketing and business strategies that will help them develop and implement business development strategies. During these Mastermind sessions members will bring any challenges they are facing for the group. Members will be encouraged to use the group as a focus group of potential prospects in order to review marketing material and ideas. Imagine being able to get feedback on your marketing materials or new programs before you launch. Think about how fast you can build your business.
Over the last three years I have been part of a group like this and it is amazing to see the growth of the members.
“I have been part of Lia’s Mastermind group for the last three years. Together
we have made great strides in business. It has allowed me to bring my
challenges, share my successes and take my business to the next level. I
absolutely believe my business would not be where it is today without the input
of the Mastermind group!”

What makes the group work? The group becomes committed to each other’s success. It’s amazing to watch the growth over time. Each member learns about the other members as well as valuable skills needed for their own business. Then when they are out in the market place they become the best referral sources for each other. Imagine 10 people who always have you on the top of their mind when an opportunity develops. It’s magical.
I hear it all the time, “It’s either feast or famine.” When you are a micro to small business with limited resources, keeping the funnel full is a big challenge. Business owners are juggling taking care of their clients while taking care of the business. Gerber describes this in great detail in his book The E-Myth. It is hard to work on your business when you are too busy working in your business. But when do you get that time. I say you have to make that time, carve it out and make it sacred. That is my vision for the Business Marketing Gym. It will be at least 120 minutes a month when you get to work on your business.
How can you steal away 120 minutes to work on your business? Have you ever heard the saying, you can either pay me now or pay me later, I say lets do it now. In 120 minutes a month you will learn critical marketing and business strategies, you will learn keys to creating not just a business, but a lifestyle. There is a reason why so many businesses fail in the first 7 years. They did not create a business; they created a job with lots of headaches. Now imagine being able to really live the dream you had imagined. I believe 120 minutes a month can turn a potential nightmare into a dream come true.
I have pulled together some of the greatest resources to help us grow our businesses. On a monthly basis we will learn critical aspects of business including (but not limited to): marketing plans, advertising plans, web development, success strategies, communication skills, making money on the information you already have, thinking out side the box to build your businesses, to name a few. The best part of the group is the ability for the group to help create the agenda. As we see what areas of expertise are most needed, we will get the resources there to give us the knowledge needed to grow your business.
I have also started to create a series of recordings with some key leaders in the marketing and business community that will also help you grow your business. Not only will you be able to come to a meeting to get your business needs met, but you will be able to take that to another level by enjoying some more training in the privacy of your own office or car. Zig Ziglar talks about “Auto U.” I always have a CD in my car so I never waste a minute where I can possibly feed my brain.
Take a look at just a few of the topics we will be covering:
